"People have made and used masks a lot over human history. I was wondering why we didn't except for Halloween. Once while I was driving and I looked up in the rear view mirror, I saw a mask looking at me. It was the front of an S.U.V. but it was very anthropomorphic, face like, with big eyes and a mean hungry mouth. These vehicles are so popular for their symbolism. They use a lot of fuel, they drive like trucks, you have to climb into them but they are intimidating. I did a series of drawings of the faces of S.U.V.'s. It's made with paint and canvas but I always use line so I call them drawings "
